I recently rescued a male Briard, that has had a challenged past. Benjamin an
abused 3-year-old pedigree Champion show dog joined me in June and was an effort
from the beginning. Due to Ben’s questionable past and headstrong Briard
demeanor, he was extremely aggressive and a fear bitter. In not knowing quite
how to correct this problem and trying everything including choke chains (yuk!),
I was 24 hours away from returning Ben to the rescue center in Arizona. Several
friends (7) who had been bitten, felt the best thing to do was to get rid of
him, “he will never change”. Luckily, my gut kicked in and I searched for a
solution to my impending loss and serious disappointment. I relayed my concern
to a work colleague and breeder who had had great success with David and his
method of gentle training. Upon speaking with David, he came over to evaluate
our problem and immediately started to work. In two sessions David was able to
show Ben and I how his Gentle Response Training works.
After our first session, I was grateful that I hadn’t given up on Ben. I have no
idea where Ben would have gone, but I know he would not have been able to
overcome his challenges without David’s training, caring and concern. Please
remember, I was 24 hours away from driving Ben back to the rescue center when we
met David. He is truly in touch with our companion’s souls and gets to the heart
of the problem. David has allowed me to realize my dream and more so has saved a
beautiful companion from being lost. I thank God for the gift of Ben; I thank
God for the friendship and caring of David.
Gratefully,
