To Whom It May Concern:
Hello, my name is Baja, and I am an 8-month-old lab mix that Mom and Dad rescued
from going to the pound. When I first arrived at their new home, I did what all
puppies do, jump up and chew on everything, bark, pee, bite, whatever would get
their attention. They couldn’t understand me and I didn’t know what they
expected. Mom and Dad were pretty frustrated.
They first took me to a trainer who told them that I had aggression issues and
needed to be controlled with a choke chain. When that didn’t work, Mom and Dad
knew they needed help fast because they were heading off soon on a 10-day trip
and leaving me with Grandpa. Mom called our veterinarian, Dr. Kenneth Jones, and
his staff recommended David. After a long phone conversation with Tatiana,
David’s lovely and knowledgeable wife, Mom decided to hire David.
Boy, am I ever glad she did. David was able to help me stop barking and cut down
on the biting with just one lesson. Best of all, he did it with positive
reinforcement — not a choke chain. Over the next two lessons, I learned how to
come, how to stay and not to run out the front door every time it’s opened. I
know when to leave things alone, and can walk on a leash without pulling (kind
of— but there is just so much to see and explore on our walks, it’s hard not to
run ahead!). Mom and Dad even started letting me sleep on their bedroom floor at
night instead of locked in my crate.
Today, I am a completely different dog. Mom and Dad are happy with me, I don’t
get into too much trouble and we all speak the same language — sort of. I’m
still not allowed to get up on the kitchen table or drink out of the toilet, but
life is good. And because I’m now trained, Mom and Dad just adopted a sister,
Jaeger, for me. Now I can show her the ropes around here. Thank you, David.
Your friend, Baja
